Nature consist of thousands of living creatures. This diversity is almost beyond human comprehention.

Nature is the school where we learn about life....

We hope these images will motivate you to appreciate the beauty of wildlife, birds, insects and landscapes and may possibly encourage you to learn more. At the same time we will introduce you to bio-mapping {where you record your own sightings and participate in Citizen Science projects}.

Dragonflies and Damselflies

Order: Odonata

Medium to large insects. They have a long slender abdomen, two pairs of large (mostly) clear wings with very complex venation, very large compound eyes and strong mouthparts (mandibels). Males are brightly coloured.

They consist of 2 sub-orders: Damselflies (Zygoptera) are more slenders and their wings are mostly folded over the body when at rest. True Dragonflies (Anisoptera) are more robust and sit with wings mostly spread open or hanging forward.
